Recently, many programs have dealt with the issue of Child Safety.  As a service to parents, below are some excellent websites with valuable information.  As an aside, several helpful hints were particularly impressive:

Parents should check their garage doors each and every month, as it can easily go out of alignment.  One suggestion made was to use a new roll of paper towels to check whether the door will automatically open within 2 seconds if it comes in contact with something.  If it does not automatically go back up within 2 seconds, an innocent child can easily be injured or killed.  The statistics on children killed by garage doors with automatic openers is startling!   In addition, if a keypad is used, it should be at least 6 feet from the ground.

NEVER leave a child in a locked car alone.  Result can be tragic, especially in hot weather!

To determine whether a small child could swallow a toy, simply use a toilet paper tube.  If an article can slip inside of the tube, then it could also get caught in a child's throat.

If you have any window blinds in your home, the cord can easily strangle a child.  The suggestion made is to simply cut the loop off the end of the cord to fix the potential problem.  New window blinds will have 2 strings to eliminate this problem.
